Will CBSE release NEET results today?

Since the time Supreme Court lifted the stay order and allowed CBSE to continue with the process of NEET, there is an air of excitement around the date when CBSE will release the NEET results. Students, parents, teachers, schools, coaching centres, media, web sites and several interested parties are waiting anxiously for any announcement from CBSE on the release of NEET results.

CBSE likely to announce NEET 2017 results today?

Several articles in the media and scrolling text in Television channels claimed that CBSE will release NEET results today, that is 19 June 2017. I even got information this evening that NEET results were already published; however, a quick check on the CBSE's NEET web site proved that its a fake news.

To put it straight, CBSE has not given any official announcement that results are expected today. So, all reports in the media are stones thrown at dark by some blind people. Guess works are reported as factual information, unfortunately.

CBSE, usually, maintains silence on matters like these. No wonder, we face several court cases related to NEET. Keeping the procedures transparent and disseminating the information well in advance is something that CBSE/ MCI should look forward to. This will remove the anxiety among students and parents. It will also give sufficient time to correct any mistakes by CBSE, rather than running to Supreme Court for each and every decision.

If not today, when will CBSE release NEET results?

In 2016, CBSE published the results exactly one week after the challenge of answer key ended. This time is needed for them to have a quick review on the OMR challenges and the answer key challenges. Going by that logic, the results can be expected by this Friday, 23rd June 2017.

CBSE, earlier, informed that they would require two weeks to release NEET results once the stay order is lifted. The stay order was lifted on 12 June 2017. So, CBSE should release NEET results not later than June 26, 2017.

So, let us hope that CBSE makes some announcement to calm down the anxious students. I believe that the results should be released any time between 21 June 2017 and 23 Jun 2017. My best wishes to all the NEET aspirants.

The medical admission for 2018 has finally come alive with two latest updates from CBSE. The first update was regarding the suggested change in syllabus for NEET 2018. The second update was regarding the scheduled examination date for NEET 2018. Update #1: Change in syllabus for NEET 2018 On 18 January 2018, The New Indian Express quoted Union Human Resources Development Minister Prakash Javadekar as saying “Today we had a special meeting (on NEET) and we have decided that we will take into account curricula of all State boards while framing the question paper for NEET so that students of State boards are not at any disadvantage from this year.” This statement caused panic and anxiety among NEET aspirants and parents. The candidates were of the opinion that it was too late to effect any changes in the syllabus for NEET 2018. They were afraid that their efforts in preparing for the NEET exam over the last two years could be in vain if there were changes to the exam syllabus at the...

Reservation System in Tamil Nadu Medical Admission - Explained

How does the reservation system works in Tamil Nadu, particularly with reference to medical college admissions? Many candidates don't understand the logic behind the admission and get confused (me too, until I spent time to understand the intricacies of it). First, let us look at what really confuses candidates and parents. Vacancy Status at the end of Day 1 Counseling Here is the vacancy status that is published by Selection Committee, Directorate of Medical Education, Tamil Nadu as at the end of 1st July 2018 (after the allotment of 40 seats under special category). Figure 1 If you look at the above matrix, there are 757 seats under Open Category (OC), which is 31% of the total seats available. You also can notice, each college has the same kind of distribution of seats using the following reservation system: Open Category (OC)- 31% Backward Community (BC)- 26.5% Backward Community-Muslim (BCM) - 3.5% Most Backward Community (MBC) - 20% Scheduled Caste (SC) -15%...

CBSE students incompetent to join Tamil Nadu Medical Colleges?

Do you know? From 2013-2015, NO CBSE candidate was given MBBS admission in any government medical college in Tamil Nadu under the 85% state quota. Do you think CBSE students are incompetent compared to Tamil Nadu State Board students? Are they not competent enough to join Tamil Nadu government medical colleges? Can they not match the Tamil Nadu state board students in studying MBBS? I do not know. But, that’s what the Tamil Nadu State MBBS admission statistics from the past three years (2013-2015) reveals. Please read through as I explain the difficulties faced by CBSE students in Tamil Nadu Professional Courses admission. CBSE Students at a disadvantage? Times of India reported in May 2013 that CBSE students are on back foot . The report highlighted that even with very high scores, a CBSE student has little chance of getting a seat for a professional course in a good college in Tamil Nadu. It is no secret that State boards are lavish in providing marks to their students...
